1. General introduction……………………………
Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, is the economic, cultural, transportation and
trade center in northeast China, and also an important industrial and historical city.
Along with its nearby cities, Shenyang is an important industrial centre in China, and
serves as the transportation and commercial hub of China's northeast—particularly
with Japan, Russia, and Korea. A center of heavy industry in China since the 1930s,
and the spearhead of the Chinese central government's Northeast Area Revitalization
Plan, the city has been diversifying its industry and now has a solid industrial
foundation, a good land and air transport network, abundant natural resources,
and a skilled workforce.The sub-provincial city region includes the nine metropolitan
districts of Shenyang proper, the county-level city of Xinmin, and three counties of
Liaozhong, Kangping and Faku.
Location & population
The city is located in the central part of Liaoning Province. Shenyang is hinterland of
Liaoning Peninsula and it is located in the south of northeast China with Changbai
Mountain behind and the Bohai Sea in front.
Shenyang governs nine districts, one city and three towns with an area of 13000
square kilometers and a population of 7.204 million, of which includes an urban area
of 3495 square kilometers and urban population of 5.066 million.
Climate
Its climate is relatively dry most of the year with spikes in precipitation during the
summer months due to the influence of monsoons. Temperatures vary as much as
10 degrees Celsius from daytime to night, and in winter they can drop below
0 degrees Celsius, so the smart traveler will plan to dress in layers.With mainly flat
land, the topography of Shenyang is characterized by plains. Located in the
temperate zone, Shenyang has a semi-moisture continental monsoon climate, with
four clearly-defined seasons. The annual average temperature is about 8.1
centigrade degree. Similar to other places in northeast China, spring and autumn
here are short, and temperature changes greatly from daytime to night. The average
temperature in summer is 24 centigrade degree, but it is chilly and dry in winter.
January is the month with the lowest temperature of the year and has an average of
temperature of about -11C. The seasons of spring and summer are decorated with
green plants; autumn is short but is so sunny nearly everyday; winter is like a pretty
girl with long and beautiful white skirt. Late summer, middle autumn and late winter
are all good times to travel in Shenyang. Winter is an especially good time to visit
because the Ice & Snow Festival is held then and is very entertaining and enjoyable.
If you would like to travel to Shenyang during this period, please bring down jacket
or cotton-padded clothes. The rainy season in Shenyang is mainly in the turn period
from Spring to Summer and from Summer to Winter. It is the golden time to visit
Shenyang from April to October every year. If you come to Shenyang in spring or
autumn, some light clothes are enough, such as knitted sweater, jackets. However,
if you travel to Shenyang in winter, you must take heavy clothes to protect against
the cold.

2. Transportation………………………………… Shenyang has established a modern network of transportation. Airline,
railway and expressway are all available here. Air There is a feeder highway stretching to the airport on the express from Shenyang to Benxi.
Railway on the
boundary between Heping district and New Tiexi district, and Shenyang North Railway Station, on the boundary between Shenhe district and
Huanggudun district. Trains starting from or passing by Shenyang Railway
Station run within the province or to the neighboring Provinces, while
trains from Shenyang North Railway Station reah all the major cities
throughout the country. More trains pass by and terminate at the Shenyang North Railway Station. Both stations are served by many publin buses. Highway Expressways from
Shenyang to Beijing, Yingkou, Dalian, Changchun, Harbin, Fushun, Benxi
and Dandong are all open to traffic. Upon 2003, the total highway
mileage has reached more than 5000 kilometers, and across-line passenger
transport has been open to ten provinces and almost all the cities in

Shenyang Imperial Palace in Beijing. Shenyang Imperial Palace is the most ancient
imperial architectural complex of Qing Dynasty in China next only to the
Forbidden City in Beijing in historical and art value. Shenyang
Imperial Palace, also called Shengjing Imperial Palace, was first built
in 1625 by Nurhachi (1559-1626), the first king of Hun of Jin State
(built in 1616), and excessively extended by Huangtaiji (1592-1643), the
son and successor of Nurhachi before they entered the hintland China
and established the Qing Dynasty. imperial
palace now serves as a tourist attraction called Shenyang Imperial
Palace Museum. The Imperial Palace in Beijing and Shenyang are the only
two most well-preserved imperial architectural complex existing in China today
Zhaoling Tomb (North Mausoleum) hectares.
Construction on this 350-year-old structure began in 1643. Zhaoling Mausoleum combines both Manchu and Han architectural characteristics.
Zhaoling Tomb, the tomb of Hongtaiji and his wife, Xiaoduanwen Queen, is
a Key Cultural Relic Unit under State Protection. Zhaoling Tomb, also
called North Tomb due to its location in the north of Shenyang, enjoys
equal fame with Fu Tomb and Yong Tomb. All these tombs are jointly
called three imperial tombs outside Shanhaiguan. However, Zhaoling Tomb is much beyond the other two in terms of scale and layout.
