  1.  General introduction

Xi’an, steeped in history and still giving up secrets, is your gateway to ancient   ancient Chinese civilization. In its 3,100 recorded years of evolution, it has been home to 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, the Sui, and Tang dynasties, perio-dically from the 11th century B.C. to the early 10th century AD. Called Chang'an in ancient times, Xi’an is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization in the

Yellow River Basin area of the country. As one of the most important cradles of Chi-nese civilization, it marked the start of the famous "Silk Road" that linked China with central Asia and the Roman Empire.

Known as the city of "Everlasting Peace", Xi'an is located between rivers and mountains in the center of the fertile Guanzhong Plain in Shaanxi Province, Xi’an the provincial capital - was a natural place to nurture the nation civilization. Visiting Xi’an can make breathe the historical air from all the must-see spots and major attractions of the city including the Qin Terracotta Army - "the 8th wonder of the world", the Big Wild Goose Pagoda - the most outstanding landmark of Xi’an, Banpo Neolithic Village Museum - the remains of a 6,000 year-old village once home to a matriarchal clan community, and the Xi’an City Wall which stretches round the old city. Today Xi’an is a vibrant, modern city, but surrounded by history, even underfoot! So there can be no underground railways due to the obligation to preserve the wealth of ancient treasure still awaiting discovery.

Climate

气候.png

Xi’an is situated in the center of the Guanzhong Plains, surrounded by mountains in the south and the Wei River in the north. Xi’an is also a city blessed with a pl-easant climate most of the year round and it is possible to pleasurably visit this city at almost any time of the year.
When you are planning your Xi’an tour, one of the frequently asked questions likely to tantalize you is “When is the best time to visit Xi’an?” Unlike other famo-us cities in China, Xi’an attractions are mostly historical relics which have little infl-uence by seasons. As a matter of fact, Xi’an is a place which you can visit on all   seasons.                                                                                                                      Xi’an enjoys four distinct seasons with warm spring, hot summer, cool and rainy autumn and dry winter. March to May is usually warm and pleasant and is the best time of the year to pay a visit. Early autumn running through September and October is also a good time for a visit.

The coldest month here is January, with an average temperature of 0°C although Xi’an has only a minimal snow level. The hottest and most unpleasant month is     June, with an average temperature of 26 °C. The summers here can also be very

dry so make sure you have plenty of drinking water with you when you go sightsee-ing!

The average temperature for the year is 13 °C.
Summer
Summer in Xi'an is scorching with strong sunshine at noon. Visitors should avoid going to outdoor sights at noon, and visit indoor sights instead. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and hats, eat more fruits and vegetables, and drink plenty of water when going sightseeing.
Hot and rainy is the significant characteristic in summer. Xi'an is one of the four "stove cities" in China. July is the hottest month throughout the year, the average temperature of 26.3 ℃, June and August average temperature of 24.8 ℃, 15.3 ℃ respectively.
Autumn
The weather becomes cool and cloudy in autumn, with a fair amount of precipit-ation, but it gradually turns dry and sunny in late autumn. In September, due to the effect of the Pacific subtropical high, Xi'an precipitation, sounds very much the weather there, monthly average rainfall of 99.5 mm, accounted for 19% of annual rainfall, for many years the average rain day for 12 days.Autumn changes in temperature is appropriate, cooling speed, and average temperature 19.6 ℃, 13.8 ℃ and 13.8 ℃.The average wind speed 1.5 m/s, is the season of the year minimum wind speed. Autumn is windy and cool. Temperature difference is a little large.
Winter
Cold, dry and overcast with a good amount of foggy days, winter has short occa-sional snowfalls. There are a few ski resorts around the city, mainly used by the locals. We recommend you to try and go to Cuihuashan Ski Resort.
Less rain and snow in winter, and it is cold with average temperature in January dropped to -0.5 ℃, influenced by strong winter cold wave, extreme minimum temperature can drop to below 10 ℃.Precipitation rainfall, dry climate, 3 months just 24 mm, only 4% of annual precipitation.
Spring

Spring is from March till May. There are dust storms due to the rapid increase of temperatures, but only occasionally. The warm sunshine and gentle breeze make

spring a good time for traveling and outdoor activities.

The temperature rise quickly, but the temperature is not stable and often appear "after suddenly getting warmer, the weather has turned cold again”. The average

temperature of March in Xi’an is 7.9 ℃, 14.1 ℃ in April, and which may rise to 19.4 ℃ in May. The rainfall in spring accounted for about a quarter of the annual rainfall, average rainfall days are 7 to 9 days. Spring temperature is pleasant and beautiful, and is a good time for outdoor activities and tourism. As temperature is moderate, but a little cool with rains, a thin coat is enough.

Cuisine

美食.png

Xian cuisine is derived from the native cooking styles of Shaanxi province and parts of northwestern China. Shaanxi cuisine makes elaborate use of ordinary materials, and is best known for its pork and lamb / mutton dishes. The flavour is strong and the taste is heavy.

There is an emphasis on savoury flavours such as salt, garlic, onion, and vinegar; sugar is seldom used. Cooking methods are mainly steaming, frying, and stir-frying. Due to its geographical location between the provinces of Shanxi and Sichuan,

the taste of Shaanxi cuisine resulted in both sour and spicy, in addition to the salty

taste.

In comparison to other Chinese cuisines, noodles consisted of greater portion than rice, but in contrast to noodles of Beijing cuisine, and to a certain degree, Shanxi cuisine, the noodles of Shaanxi cuisine is nearly always wider, thicker, and longer.Attractions
